Donations for Rescue Pup Koko

After I lost my dog of 18 years about 5 years ago, I didn't think it was possible for me to love another dog again without feeling pain. Here I am, with my new little rescue pup Saint Koko, and I'm so deeply in love.

He was born on the island of St. Lucia and was brought to me (Kristina) from Helpaws Animal Rescue Shelter. He's only 8 weeks old, but he's already had such a tough life and endured so much. He's been given chance after chance,  and I believe he was sent to me for a reason. With the right help and resources, we have the ability to give him a long and happy life.

He was thrown out of a puppy mill and/or breeder onto the streets at two weeks old. When he was turned into the shelter, his eye was completely punctured, and they believe that he was attacked by larger dogs after he was thrown out of wherever he was bred. He was flown from St. Lucia to Texas to me via an incredible flight carrier volunteer (named Beth) not just two weeks ago, and since then, it's been non-stop vet appointments, stays at the ICU, and disheartening news.

He has so many health issues. Since I've had him, he's had approximately 12 major seizures. He will need a minimum of four major surgeries coming up to give him the life he deserves, and we are still figuring out a primary diagnosis for him. Bloodwork and tests are being done with specialists to determine his prognosis.

He's had several overnight stays in the ICU with incubation, respiratory help, IV's, antibiotics, and more to help keep him alive.

At the current moment, his bills are high, and his upcoming surgeries will be even more. Receipts are attached below for you to show a minimum of 14k in spending already (and recent bills haven't been added nor have his surgeries happened yet. Those estimates will be added asap to give you proof of expenditures).

He will need to have his left eye completely removed.

Possible cranial surgery.

He will also need to potentially have a liver shunt surgery, along with another surgery on his back right leg.

Along with this, he will need to be neutered.

His bloodwork is being evaluated for neurological issues, liver damage, lung damage (as he's recently had non-cardiac pulmonary adema / pneumonia), and other infections or conditions.

The most pressing concern is his seizures, and we are working at the best long-term solution for him.

We hope to find the cause of the seizures as soon as possible. We have the BEST vets helping us at the moment, but we do need your support to help Koko get the help he needs.

He's a fighter and so incredibly strong. He DOES have the ability to have a long and healthy life, and we are asking for your help to get him there.

Throughout all of this, he's managed to keep a lively spirit and gives the sweetest snuggles. He has a healthy appetite and loves to play and chew on everything, as just does a normal puppy.

While I've only had him for three weeks, I'm already obsessed and passionately in love with him. I can't imagine him not having the opportunity to truly live his life. He's already been through too much.

Any support that you can offer will be so greatly appreciated.

Excess funds will be sent to help his many friends at the Helpaws Animal Rescue Shelter in St. Lucia. You can visit their website here: www.helpaws.com

In gratitude for your help, we will be able to provide you with updates on Koko and how he's doing. We want you to feel like he's a part of your family too.  We've just created an instagram for him here where you can follow him daily: www.instagram.com/fullyrawkoko

Thank you so much for your consideration, compassion, and kindness. Koko thanks you too.

Blessings,

Kristina
