Hi, I'm Evie - also known as Mischief Mice on Instagram - and on the 21st May 2026, I took in a rescue of mice with the help of some other people in the small pet community. This rescue was because a young boy got bored of breeding and his parents didn't want to take over or split the mice, so they continued to breed.

This rescue consisted of: 19 male mice - one did later pass away from injuries - 13 pregnant mice, 8 non pregnant female mice and 24 mice that had passed away. All of these mice, apart from one boy, were being kept together in one exo-terra with no hides or toys and their bedding was soaked in wee. They were being fed a moldy donut and had no access to water as their bowls were bone dry. The boy on his own was being kept in a cylinder pot with no water bowl in sight and he was eating a piece of bread covered in mites. These mice had been neglected and it was such a shame to see the way they'd had to live. Thankfully all of these mice are now safe and they never have to worry about living like that again.

With the help of others, all of the boys and 11 pregnant mice were taken out of my care so that I could focus on the 2 mama mice that gave birth the night they arrived and the 8 females that had to be kept on pregnancy watch. After keeping them on pregnancy watch, 6 out of 8 of these girls are pregnant, 3 of which have had their babies. Therefore this is requiring a lot of cages, hides and bedding which isn't cheap.

These mice deserve the world, they've had an awful start to life and deserve to see what love and a home is meant to be. If anyone who is reading this could donate anything, even £1, it would really help with getting these mice some more hides and toys like they deserve. Thank you!!
