Hi, My name is Vycki and I’m Meranda’s best friend! I’m starting this GOFUNDME to help out to the family while they go through these hard times! Meranda has 4 children ages 12, 10, 7, 6 that are going through a difficult time right now, So let’s try and make their days better!

This is Meranda’s story:

Meranda had been sick with the flu for 5-7 days so around 12/18/23 and she was just treating her symptoms just like any other normal flu. On 12/24/23 Christmas Eve her family went to check her temperature and giving her some medicine and once they turned on the light in the room they noticed that Meranda was GREY in color and she was responding but wasn’t very coherent. So they got her dressed and rushed her to the hospital. Once they arrived at the hospital they were checking in and the triage nurse was checking her blood pressure and oxygen levels and she instantly got alarmed. Meranda’s oxygen levels were at 71% (The normal O2 level is 97% or better) so she immediately called trauma and got her into a room. Within 10 mins they had her on a Bi-Pap machine and were pulling blood. Her blood levels came back critical and the Bi-Pap was not having any success. So they immediately decided that she would need to be taken to the ICU and put on a ventilator. Once in the ICU meranda blood test came back and they were not good at all. Her breathing was not improving either.. So they decided to sedate/paralyze her! Once that was done a few hours later her husband had given them permission to put Meranda on what’s called a ECMO machine. What the ECMO machine does is Take her blood out through her arterial artery in her neck and puts oxygen into it, then goes through another tube and replaces it back to her heart!

Today is 12/29/23 and Meranda is Still progressing slowly everyday so that’s really good! Today she’s had two transfusions (just adding blood) she got 1 red blood cell bag and 2 plasma bags and that helped her out a lot! Her oxygen levels are doing good.. She’s still being sedated and probably will be for the next few days still! But other than that she’s just resting and getting better! Meranda is also still on the ECMO machine.
