Donations for Dad: Thomas Laizer Jr

It is with great sadness and much humility that I once again turn to the prayers and generosity of others to help my family through a truly trying time.  As you have likely heard by now, my father "Thomas Laizer Jr" has been once again diagnosed with Renal Cell Cancer. You may recall that he sucessfully defeated this disease a few years back when he had one of his kidneys removed. This time it has reimergerd in his right humerus (upper arm). As my parents travel to Houston today for an appointment at MD Anderson tomorrow, I cannot help but refelct on the difficult times ahead. Though I am extemely confident that he will once again beat this terrible disease, I am humbled by the mental, physical and financial challanges that lie ahead. Despite paying over $1,000 a month for medical insurance, preexisting medical conditions have limited my fathers options for quality medical insurance. To recieve the treatment necessary to suceed in his life threatening battle with cancer, he must pay $5,000 upon arrival and then 50% of all medical bills accumulated at MD Anderson. Since his diagnosis, my father has never once asked for sympathy. True to form, he has met this challenge with strength, optomism, and a confidence that this will soon be behind him. I realize that the financial burden is the furtherst thing from anyones mind, but if those capable can come together, contribute and show him how much he means to us, it will go a long way in lifting his spirits and ensuring that he recieves the support necessary to defeat this disease.
