Hello, my name is Liliana Brito. I am Portuguese, living in London, and I cannot remain silent in the face of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. As a new mother, my heart aches for the children and families enduring unimaginable suffering. I could not stand by, uncertain if my support was truly reaching those in need (e.g. I did some donations to NGOs but always unsure if they really translate into help for these families). That’s why I took action and I have already gathered and sent more than £5000 directly to families in Gaza. The heartfelt videos I received, expressing gratitude, moved me deeply and reaffirmed the urgency of this cause.

Why did I start collecting donations?

Determined to do more, I reached out to my Egyptian friend Nada, and I asked her if she knew how I could help. Fortunately, she has also been organising direct aid to verified families in Gaza through a trusted intermediary that I have now met via a video call. He receives donations from Nada and then distributes them to various camps, according to their specific needs. This grassroots approach is crucial right now, as traditional aid routes are often blocked or ineffective. In some heartbreaking cases, the so-called “aid” provided by larger powers like U.S. has brought more harm than relief.

With friends joining in, I decided to create this GoFundMe page to streamline donations and amplify our impact. Every contribution goes directly to families who need it most—no intermediaries, just real help and hope.
