Three years ago, my mother-in-law, Zelda Lyons, faced the devastating news that she had melanoma cancer in her eye. Fortunately, after undergoing radiation treatment, she was able to clear the cancer from her eye. However, this summer brought an even more difficult challenge: she was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma that has now spread to her liver and lungs. In just a week, we will be heading to the Mayo Clinic for surgery to remove a portion of her liver—a critical step in her battle against this aggressive disease.
Adding to her struggles, about two months ago, Zelda suffered a fall and broke her tibia, which will require a total knee replacement. Currently, she is unable to bear weight on her leg to reduce swelling, but she is scheduled for surgery on the 23rd of this month to repair her leg and knee. Following her recovery, she will return to Mayo for 3 to 4 weeks of targeted treatment to address the remaining spots in her lungs.
Zelda hasn't been able to work for many months, and her medical bills are piling up as her health continues to decline. The substantial travel and treatments needed are overwhelming, both emotionally and financially. We are reaching out for any support that can help Zelda Lyons during this incredibly challenging time. Your prayers and assistance can make a meaningful difference as she and our family navigate this daunting journey. Thank you for standing with us during this struggle.
