Donation to rebuild our home

Hi we are a married couple, our names are Matthew and Lizzie, we decided after Covid to retire and live our lives in Carriacou, in a house that was built in 1990s for my husband’s mother who is now deceased.

Hello ladies and gents.

Well to say we got a rude awaking is a real under statement. Beryl came on a real mission that was the hurricane that devastated Carriacou, Petit Martinique and some of the Caribbean island, all I can say is thank you for coming during the day rather than through the night, don’t even want to think what the death toll would of been. We were in our house when she struck we fought like lions trying to protect our house and contents we battled to stop doors and windows flying due to 150 mph winds yes it was frightening after the first wave we managed to escape and run downstairs into more secured shelter. Only to experience another wave of devastation this was more like a tornado that seems to last forever. When eventually it died down we decided reluctantly to go back upstairs. When upstairs and saw the devastation it was heart breaking couldn't believe what we were looking at.

We lost all the roofing cover a lot of the timber (ply) had been ripped out,

all 17 windows,

front and back doors of the house,

small and large appliances,

Linoleum tiles throughout and

Personal belongings was destroyed by water damage it was like a swimming pool everything saturated with water.

This really shook us to the core.

The damage caused by Beryl was truly unbelievable. We could only stand and watch in disbelief. Thinking what do we do now? we had no form of outside communication at all. Trying to get any info was almost impossible. People are talking about aid relief fund to help which has not even surfaced, this is when reality kicks in realising you’re on your own.

So now we’re on a mission trying to reach out for any little help to see what we can do to start back the building process to at least get back some form of normality.

I am definitely not too proud to ask for any little donations just to get us back to reality.

We will use this generous gift and put it towards the repairs of our house.
