Support Lama Tshering's Journey: From Bhutan to the University of York

Dear Friends and Kindred Spirits,

My name is Lama Dhendup Tshering, and I write to you not only as a Buddhist monk, but as a humble seeker committed to learning, service, and meaningful contribution in a changing world.

This year, I have been accepted to pursue a Master of Science in Human Resource Management at the York St John University in the United Kingdom-a rare and precious opportunity to deepen my understanding of how human beings work together in systems, and how compassion, dignity, and insight can shape ethical leadership in modern organizations.

Why Human Resource Management?

At first glance, this might seem like an unusual path for a monk. But in truth, it is. deeply aligned with my intention to be of service. Understanding human behaviour, workplace wellbeing, motivation, and inclusive policy-making will enable me to bridge traditional wisdom with modern professional structures-both in Bhutan and internationally.

With this knowledge, I hope to:

Support community organizations and monasteries with effective leadership practices

Guide individuals and teams with balance and purpose

Foster workplace cultures rooted in mutual respect, mindfulness, and compassion

While I have secured my place at the University, I do not currently have the means to cover the full cost of the year abroad. I am therefore seeking to raise £11,800to fund:
