Hi there! My name is John (but online I prefer Von or Ike). Recently, my father was admitted to the ER due to congestive heart failure and it is becoming very likely that he will need open heart surgery. As he and my mother are both retired, the medical costs are already starting to pile up - and in order to be safe upon returning home, he needs a new bed and a chair (as the current furniture in the home is too high for him to safely get in and out of on his own). My hope is to raise some money to help my parents out as we go through this tough time - I can't even go visit him in the hospital due to COVID restrictions. Any money you can donate would be incredibly helpful and appreciated - my mom has already started selling things to try and raise money and it breaks my heart to see her trying to do it on her own.
My dad's surgery is on the 31st and he will be recovering in the hospital if everything goes well for a week or two after that. With that in mind, I intend to spend at least the next 15 days collecting funds, potentially more if he needs to stay in the hospital longer or there are further complications.
