We are raising donations to help MBGSP colleagues in Cebu rebuild their homes and restart their lives after the devastation brought by Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) on 4 November 2025.
We are incredibly relieved to report that all our colleagues are safe and there were no fatalities. However, many have suffered severe damage to their homes and belongings. Numerous houses were swamped by deep floodwater, leaving furniture, appliances, personal effects, and essential household items water-damaged, silted, and unusable. Tragically, 19 colleagues experienced a total loss of their homes and everything within them.
While initial support has already been provided by the company, we believe strongly in the power of our global colleague community. Many of you reached out asking how you could help. In response, we are launching this private, voluntary, colleague-to-colleague donation drive to provide additional financial support to those most affected.
How the funds will be handled and distributed
Oversight & withdrawal of funds:
The withdrawal and oversight of funds will be managed by Alexi our Chief Finance Officer and Cristine our Head of Human Relations here at Mercedes-Benz Group Services Phils., Inc. (MBGSP), together with Alfredo A. Arradaza III, Account Manager for MBGSP at UnionBank of the Philippines.
Funds raised via this GoFundMe campaign will be transferred from Marc‘s (CEO) GoFundMe-linked euro account to a UnionBank of the Philippines peso account, and from there distributed to the beneficiaries. UnionBank is supporting us by waiving FX-Exchange fees
Management and use of funds:
The financial support will be provided directly to affected colleagues, who will manage the use of their allocated funds themselves. Needs differ significantly per individual, and beneficiaries are best positioned to prioritize essentials such as home repair, replacement of basic household items, or other urgent necessities.
The Human Relations (HR) team and respective immediate supervisors will support this process by referring to the existing needs assessment and conducting regular check-ins as part of ongoing welfare support.
Form and allocation of support:
Donations will be distributed as cash assistance. Allocation amounts are based on a previously completed impact-severity assessment. Colleagues are grouped by impact category, and funds will be split evenly among individuals within each category.
Timing:
Distribution of funds will begin immediately in early 2026, once the campaign is completed and funds are fully available.
In the Philippines, weather-related and elemental damage is typically not insurable, making every contribution especially meaningful for colleagues who are rebuilding from nothing.
Any contribution—no matter the amount—will make a real difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your compassion, and for standing with our colleagues during this challenging time.
Every bit of support truly matters.
