In loving memory of Maya, Donations for Two special charitys

Donation protected
I have set this go fund me up to raise some money for two charity’s that have supported us this year, we would have struggled to get through it without them.

Maya was born at 26 weeks due to placenta abruption, Maya was born at Wolverhampton hospital and spent her first two weeks of life there , we then got transferred back to Worcester hospital as they are a level two unit, unfortunately Maya became unwell and needed to go back to a level 3 unit for intensive care. Maya was transferred to John Radcliffe hospital , during her stay she spent time in the intensive care unit and high Dependecy.
We was so lucky to be able to stop at Ronald McDonald housing which was based on the hospital (literally a 2 minute walk from Maya) this enabled us to be there with her every single day and that’s something that I will forever be grateful.

At a Ronald McDonald House, families can be together, enjoy home-cooked meals and receive compassionate hospitality and support from staff and volunteers — all near the child's hospital

During our stay at Ronald McDonald we met some lovely family’s, I know one family was there for around 6 months.
I never really knew much about Ronald McDonald , I’d heard about it but selfishly never took a second to think about all the family’s/children that are using it. Until we needed it. There are 62 bedrooms at Oxford and they are always pretty much full , we spent Easter and Father’s Day there and they always went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.we never had to pay a penny, this helped us so much especially being so far from home , we was able to be so close to Maya but not have to worry about the financial burden of not working for 4 months. If Ronald McDonald wasn’t there we would have had to travel 2 hour each day or find a hotel to stop in.

Another charity that was amazing during our time in Oxford was SSNAP , ssnap is a charity that supports sick newborns, their parents and those that care for them; by providing emotional, medical, financial and informational support.
Ssnap use to come around every single day to check how we was , to see if there’s was anything we needed or they could do.They brought you food/drinks around to make sure you was still eating and drinking while being there next to your baby, they gave us vouchers to get some food for lunch again this takes a little bit of stress away from everything you are going through.

Oxford neonatal unit have 56 cots across their intensive care unit , high dependency and low dependency and most the time these are always full. It felt like a complete different world when we was there , so many sick babies , babies that started off as 23/24 weekers stopping there until 40/44+ weeks and even some babies that just needed a little bit of support for a couple Of days.

If anyone can donate a small contribution we would be so grateful, these charity’s help thousands of people each year and we would really like to give back even a small contribution to how much they helped us. This money will then be split in half for each charity.

We are still finding it extremely difficult to come to terms with Mayas passing, Maya was a strong beautiful girl that thought through absolutely everything.
One day when we have all the answers I will write Mayas story , because she deserves people to know how strong she was , what she went through and to also raise awareness and to let people know they aren’t alone during this time.

I’ve gone through a lot in my life but there is no pain like losing your own child, it’s not something that anyone should have to go through.
We want to thank all our lovely friends and family for the flowers , messages and support during this time.
