37-year-old Tawanda Matibiri, the father of 2-year-old Danai and husband to Tariro Matibiri, has been left unconscious from a horrific motor vehicle accident and is currently paralysed from the neck down.

Tawanda is a dear friend and colleague who has been here in Doha, Qatar, for the last nine years. He was born and raised in Zimbabwe, where he finished school and then moved to South Africa to complete his higher education. In 2014 Tawanda moved to Doha to work as a mathematics teacher. We have had the privilege of working with him and being his friends ever since.

Tawanda married his wife Tariro in 2018 and had their son Danai in 2020. They all live in Doha, and Danai started going to nursery in late 2022. Tawanda is a die-hard Arsenal fan and dreams of watching his team lift the premier league trophy this season. Our friend is not just any ordinary person but someone who has touched our lives countless times and left an incredible mark on our hearts. His kindness, generosity and warm personality have made him a true joy to be around and he has many people who care deeply for him.

Unfortunately, on Monday, 16th of January 2023, Tawanda was involved in a tragic car accident on his way home from work. The driver's side tyre exploded, leading the driver to lose control of the vehicle and drive head-on into a metal barrier. Tawanda sustained various injuries to his spine and neck and has been unconscious since the accident. He is currently paralysed from the neck down and relies on a ventilator to help him breathe.

We have organised this fundraiser on his behalf to aid Tawanda and his family. Every little bit helps and all proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to support our friend Tawanda and his family as they navigate this difficult time. We understand that not everyone can contribute financially and that's okay. However, your love and support through thoughts, prayers and well-wishes are equally valuable and appreciated.

We are truly grateful for your generosity and kindness, and we know that with your help, we can make a real difference for our dear friend in his time of need.
