Donating My Hair to TLPT - Maddie Loudon

Hi, my name is Maddie!

I have recently cut 11 inches of my hair and will be donating it to The Little Princess Trust charity. This charity provides FREE real hair wigs to children and young people (up to the age of 24) who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments or other conditions.

Recently, I graduated from the University of Hertfordshire, where I studied Radiotherapy and Oncology, and am due to start a new job as a Therapeutic Radiographer. In this role, I will be using radiation therapy to treat patients with cancer.

I’ve seen first-hand how cancer can affect people, not only through the experiences of my patients but also through the lives of those closest to me. Witnessing its impact has deeply moved me and inspired me to do more to support those going through such a challenging time. I hope that by donating my hair and raising funds, I can bring even a little bit of comfort and happiness to someone who is going through an incredibly difficult time.

For those who know me, my hair is a big part of who I am and my identity. For the past nine months, I've been taking extra care of my hair, using nourishing oils, deep-conditioning masks, and avoiding heat as much as possible (you name it, I've probably done it!) to ensure it's in the best possible condition for donation. Our hair is a big part of who we are and is tied to our confidence and how we express ourselves. For many children and young people, losing their hair can be incredibly tough. Supporting the Little Princess Trust can help give individuals a sense of normality during a challenging time and assist them in feeling more confident.
