Hello, everyone!!
Thank you for considering giving to Alessandra and Graham. The purpose of this isn't just to provide some financial assistance for gas, medicine and procedures, but also hope! This has been about a 4-year grind, and it's hard to keep a positive outlook! Please give what you can, and it's GREATLY appreciated!!!
Graham has worked with us since November of 2021, he’s shown he fits the VU mold easily. He recently shared his Make Someone’s Day and sums up the type of people they are. Graham and Alessandra have had more curveballs thrown at them the last 4 years, than most may see in a life time; financially, emotionally and physically. Truth be told it could be a Netflix number one but they need help to get the ending. Here’s where our VU family comes in. I want to be sure they get every opportunity for a happy ending.
At the age 17 Alessandra randomly had some health issues come up…17. Alessandra had both her kidney’s failing. Countless trips to doctors from here to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, still struggling to find answers. After some more tests Alessandra is needing a transplant, they were having trouble finding an option. Going through dialysis every week or two, not being able to keep a job because of health, not being able to travel and just every day struggles. This goes on for a few years. I couldn’t imagine the mental tax that this powerful woman has gone through or to mention the financial hardship, yet she keeps fighting. So this story starts off gloomy but there are rays of sunshine, we just need to keep making it brighter together.
So, Graham starts with us in November. This crazy cat decides to post on our classified basically in search of a kidney….Guess what…11 you heard me 11 people with VU responded. THAT’S THE KIND OF COMPANY WE WORK FOR!!! Graham has been here a few months and 11 strangers stood up and said hey you know what I have 2 kidneys, let me help you! Out of those 11, 2 came back as a match. Say what!??! Graham and Alessandra are feeling pretty good at this point and start talking with Barnes Jewish, Mayo and anyone who can help them.
There is a setback…Insurance. Even though Alessandra is on her father’s insurance, it doesn’t cover these kind of huge procedures. Even if they had cash to pay for the procedure, hospitals won’t do it. They need the person receiving the kidney to have insurance to cover the donor. After the 3 years of searching and finding a solution, new curveball. Turns out Alessandra should be put with Medicare, to even have a chance. Medicare has an enrollment period that isn’t until July as of now. Well current day, we have the foundation working on financial assistance, our benefits team is fighting to find a way to expedite enrollment and VUI….What can we do?
First, I’ll be honest, they do not want a hand out. They would settle for the procedure and just helping Alessandra to get her health back. That being said, money is part of the hardship. I’ve setup a Gofundme account. If you can give $5, $10 or anything please consider doing so. All proceeds will go to this beautiful family for bills, trips to the hospital, fun and hopefully more positive momentum. In short, I want to give Graham and Alessandra EVERY opportunity to succeed. I know the VUI family wants to give you EVERY opportunity to succeed. I’m not sure if you’ve heard WE, ENHANCE LIVES…..Together!
I’ll start by giving the $100 the wheel graciously gave me and matching it.
I appreciate you all!!
