+++ UPDATE +++
Dear Family & Friends,
In the week that Barry & Mo would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary, we were delighted to see the arrival of Mo’s Memorial Bench on Putney Common.
The bench is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, perfectly positioned to overlook the common and the church in all its glory — a fitting tribute to Mo’s spirit, her home, and love of the area.
We are truly grateful for your generous contributions, which made this lasting memorial possible. Thank you for helping us honour her memory in such a special way.
On another note, many of you have kindly asked after Barry since his cancer diagnosis two days after Mum’s passing. He’s facing his journey with Multiple Myeloma with quiet strength and humour. Noting the steroids he’s on also means he’s eating for 10 men! He’s in good spirits and finds great comfort in the continued love from all of you — for which we are so thankful.
With love and appreciation,
Fay, Danny, Suzy, Merry…and Barry ♥️

Hello everyone,
Our beautiful Mum, Maureen “Mo”, passed away peacefully on 4th March 2025. God bless you Mum. You were the kindest, gentlest, generous soul and the best Mum in the world. We will miss you more than words can say.
People will know that Barry & Mo were avid walkers - their distinctive hair whilst marching through the streets of Putney was a frequent sight in the community.
Having grown up around the corner from each other in Hammersmith, Mum's early days was as a Sunday School Teacher and worked in a perfume factory in the lab making scents. They would seek out jazz concerts, travel, and live in a Brighton for a spell before choosing Putney to start a family. Barry & Mo spent over 75 years together.
Their love of London, travelling, and us kids - their passions. They spent many a day walking across the Common and sitting to talk about anything and everything, and watch the dog-walkers and planes go passed. In her older years, I will always remember Mo sitting on a bench and in that moment as she sat down, with the sun shining on her face, the warmth of the breeze, and her eyes closed, she would let out a sigh that said 'nothing else mattered'. It was pure joy to watch.
Putney Common, our spiritual home, is where we will always remember Mum. It is here we would like to continue that love story of having somewhere for Barry to sit and be with his eternal sweetheart. A memorial bench seems a fitting tribute and a special place we can all enjoy and reflect.
If you would like to donate, we would welcome your contribution.
Thank you,
Fay, Danny, Sue and Merry ♥️
