YouthPPE - 3D Printed Door Openers for Shelters

COVID-19 has shattered our world and its sense of normal. Thousands of individuals scrambled to fulfill PPE requests from essential workers, and now, manufacturing lines have caught up to the demand. Now, it's time to turn our attention to the youth.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “Current evidence suggests that novel coronavirus may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials.” Touching contaminated surfaces has become one of the most common and unexpected causes of contracting COVID-19. With the donation of these 3D printed hands-free door openers, we hope to provide those in need with a tool they can use to decrease their chances of contracting the virus to help them not only open doors but also interact with other public surfaces such as ATMs, elevator buttons, etc.
Introducing YouthPPE, an organization dedicated to donating free, custom-made contactless door openers to protect the next generation. As the school year starts and children attend online school, parents are forced to leave them home in potentially dangerous situations. By donating our easy-to-use contactless door openers, we hope to decrease the spread of germs and help shelters for children across the Bay Area reopen in a safe and efficient manner. These door openers have an ergonomic design, as they are easy to use, are small enough to store anywhere, and are made from durable plastic.
We designed the YouthPPE Contactless Door Opener in house, and are currently manufacturing them inhouse. This has come with many unexpected costs, such as 3D printer maintenance, material cost, and most of all, shipping. Sending our boxes of door openers has costed much more than we initially thought, and so we are asking for you to donate to help us offset these costs and donate more.
Please visit our website http://youthppe.org/ to request for door handles and to learn more about us. Further, if you're able to donate 3D printed door handles to us, please contact us as well!
Thanks so much for your time and thank you all for your donations. Stay happy and stay healthy
