Chimbites is a support network centered around intersectionality. Their goal is to encourage collaboration and solidarity between the global underground artistic community, prioritizing Trans and Non-binary POC.
We are partnering with Suoni Per Il Popolo, a Montreal festival, to bring you a TV-like online event on March 27th.
We are bringing together international musicians, DJs, visual artists, fashion brands and performers to raise funds.
Chimbites' online event is free to attend, please consider donating.
This year, 50% of your donations will go to Divas Nos Queremos, a trans-led collective in Mexico City that provides monetary support to queer & trans artists and activists who have been directly affected by COVID-19. They have been fundraising to give over 50 micro-grants and are now teaming up with other groups to launch a seasonal residency that will host queer & trans artists from across Central America at a beautiful garden property in southern Mexico. Every dollar you give directly supports creating a long-term living space for queer & trans artists to heal, bond, make work, and thrive in Central America.
The other 50% will go to Jóvenes Unidos por Buenaventura, a Black led platform for youth cultural, academic and LGBTI collectives located in the Colombian pacific coast. Because of the armed conflict and normalization of violence getting worse during the pandemic, with little to no assistance from the government, this territory is going through one of the roughest times in its history. Their goal is to provide tools for a positive transformation of the youth, in terms of reality or the current social context.
