Dawn Carella Petrasso URGENTLY needs your support. She has courageously been fighting cancer and pursued all available treatments in Canada. However, her battle with Stage 4 cancer has reached a roadblock as there are no more viable options left for her in Canada.
Dawn's Message Days Prior to Her Departure for Her First Treatment in Germany
Dawn is not giving up and has a strong will to survive---for her children, her husband and her family. She is pursuing state of the art treatment available in GERMANY, one that has had tremendous success for others with similar medical histories. Dawn will travel to Germany several times over the coming months and undergo separate treatments, NONE of which are covered by OHIP.

Dawn needs your financial support for these treatments, and for travel and related costs.
Dawn's Courageous Battle to Survive
Most of us lead busy lives. Our days are crammed with work, chores, commuting, kids’ activities and more. We are exhausted and often complain that the responsibilities seem endless. For Dawn, a 44-year old mother of two boys who has metastatic cancer, fatigue and exhaustion are the least of her worries. Dawn has been courageously fighting for her life and she is about to embark on her final hope for a medical miracle. At the age of 39, Dawn was diagnosed with Stage 3B breast cancer. Dawn bravely underwent a long and painful treatment journey that included a double mastectomy, months of chemo, 25 rounds of radiation and ongoing hormone therapy. After that time, Dawn was overjoyed to hear that she was cancer-free!
Yet, in the fall of 2015, a new and persistent cough led to x-rays and scans and the heartbreaking news that the cancer had returned in her lungs, bones, liver and lymph nodes. And if that news wasn’t bad enough, then came the devastating and most horrifying news a wife and mother of 2 young sons could ever hear…she had a life expectancy of only 3 to 6 months.
Desperate to improve her odds, Dawn has fearlessly undergone both traditional and alternative courses of treatments. While she was going through her treatment, her son was in a tragic accident, suffered a brain injury and continues on his own journey in rehabilitation.
Dawn has always been a soft-spoken and gentle human being but she has had to become a fierce warrior in this fight against cancer. Dawn has never given up hope in this fight for her life.
Dawn’s search for a miracle has led her to a clinic in Germany, which offers Regional chemotherapy (RCT). Traditional chemotherapy is delivered to the whole body through the veins; therefore, the concentration that is actually delivered to the tumour is low. However, RCT is administered into the arteries which directly supply a specific tumour, making it a highly-targeted and more concentrated chemotherapy and more effective in killing the tumour.
Help fulfill Dawn’s dream to see her sons grow up
Doctors expect that Dawn will likely need 6 treatments at a significant cost which is not covered by OHIP, but it is truly Dawn’s final hope. By making a donation towards the cost of her treatment, you are lessening Dawn’s financial stress and, instead, allowing her to focus on the healing. And most importantly, you are giving Dawn a chance to fulfill her simple dream of seeing her two sons grow up.
