Donate to fight Tamu Boylen's Breast Cancer

My name is Tamu Boylen. I am 29 years old and I just recently got diagnosed with Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer grade 2. I am a sister, daughter, student, fashion designer, and strong advocate for the environment and sustainability which is reflected in my designs.

I found a lump in my breast two months ago. I listened to my body and sought immediate treatment. Having no insurance I went to the wonderful doctors at the Women's Community Clinic where they sent me for free additional testing at San Francisco General Hospital. The doctors at SFGH performed a mammogram followed by a biopsy and later confirmed my worst fears; being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in my twenties. As my greatest horror is coming true, I've learned to come to terms with this new reality and through the  tribulations of dealing with such a serious disease, that is becoming a worldwide epidemic,I remain optimistic.

I cannot stress enough the importance of women performing breast self exams. Mammograms are not recommended until age 40 and women are getting diagnosed younger and younger. I was lucky enough to detect my cancer early and that greatly increases my chances for survival and my options for treatment.

Here is an easy video how: Please "Touch Yourself" regularly self check. https://youtu.be/clOEgvgUxfk

The doctors have recommended a mastectomy. I will be undergoing surgery in November 2019 to remove the cancerous tumors and because of how young I am the doctors are recommending chemotherapy after surgery. As a believer in holistic health I am exploring all options for treatment available to me before chemotherapy. I’ve been a healthy eater my whole life ,having a family that raised me that way. I have always been conscious and concerned about the environment and our human impact on it. I can't help but relate my own failing health issues with the health of our own planet

I have already made huge lifestyle changes to ensure that I am strong and healthy for this battle. I truly believe in the power of positive thinking and " I'm a survivor, I'm not gon' give up! "

This whole situation has made me become deeply humbled. I have no source of income at the moment, even though I have worked for many years in customer service. The doctors recommended eliminating any strain, and especially, stress. I need to be kind to my body in order for it to heal.

The last thing you want to think about when you are about
to face the biggest fight of your life is finances. Anything you can contribute to ease the burden of my treatment and care is greatly appreciated. I am grateful to my treating team, family, friends, who have shown me endless compassion and love in every way. Any little donation will go a long way.

Your donation will go in particular to helping offset some of the medical bills associated with my treatment protocol, post-surgery costs, and will help pay for the MRIs, CT scans, breast ultrasounds, bone density scans, biopsies, heart ultrasounds, and other imaging costs that insurance wont cover.

I hope, at the very least, that you will keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I continue on this strenuous and scary journey.

Peace, love and many blessings,
Tamu Boylen

P.S. In raising funds for my illness & care I also want to raise breast cancer awareness especially in young women. The greatest tool to combating breast cancer is Breast Self-Exams. I was lucky to find my lump early phase 1 and it greatly increases my chances for survival and gives me significantly better options for treatment. A doctor will be there to show guests how to perform breast exams. I truly believe in the power of creativity for positivity; to heal and support one another as a community.
