Hello! my name is Zed (they/them) and I am a 23 year old non binary singer who would love to start medically transitioning. Right now, my main goal is to start a low dose of testosterone, which luckily, my insurance will mostly cover. however, in order to make transitioning smoother for me as my vocal chords thicken and to prevent damaging my singing voice, I need to take vocal lessons from an instructor who specializes in voices on testosterone.
Unfortunately, voice lessons would not be covered by my insurance and they are very far out of my budget. Just 10 30 minute lessons are $644 with a package discount. All money earned from this fundraiser will go towards paying for voice lessons.
Due to worsening vocal dysphoria, I have not performed in over 3 years. My voice does not sound like mine. I've wanted to start HRT for a couple of years but I can't risk starting testosterone without having the money for voice lessons to maintain my voice. I have been singing my whole life and it is my biggest passion, losing that would be truly devastating for me.
Truthfully, I don't like asking for help, but I'm worried that access to HRT in the future could be restricted due to the incoming administration. Because of this, I'm asking for any help anyone is willing to give so I can start ASAP. Thank you for reading!
