Zac's Fight for a New Kidney
Donation protected
My name is Zac, and I am 39 years old with a small business, husband, and 8-year-old daughter.
I have had type 1 diabetes since I was 16. Unfortunately, 9 years ago, I was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure and was placed on dialysis. I was fortunate enough to receive a transplant in 2018.
After 7 years of healthy living, in June of 2024, I found myself in the hospital. My body had rejected my kidney, and the doctors got it stabilized, but time is of the essence.
I was just approved in Seattle to be on the kidney transplant list, but it is 5-6 years long. With networking and research, we have found that Arizona has a much shorter waitlist, and to race to beat time, we are looking to get on the waitlist in Arizona.
We have begun the steps to get on the list, but are now at the point where they need me to physically go down to Arizona.
Sadly, I have not been working since June and am working on getting approved for disability.
Our finances are tight, and we thought it was worth seeking help from our friends, family, and community.
We are aiming to go down in April and need funds to secure flights, hotel, food, and expenses to cover my husband Owen's time off to travel with me.
We appreciate you looking into this and are happy to provide updates and answer any questions!
