Send Our Pants To Chile!

Tax deductible

Theatre of Yugen offers world-class programming unlike anything you'll see anywhere else - and we're proving it by touring the world!!

For Giving Tuesday, we asked you to help SAVE OUR PANTS - which you did in a big way!  We raised over $2000 in a single day!

Now, we're chasing for something even bigger.  Shannon R. Davis and Nick Ishimaru are here to ask for your support for the second half of our thrilling 40th Season and help send our artists (and their pants) across the globe!

That's right - all of our money raised will be going directly to pay our artists and ensuring that we can continue to make world-class art in the most expensive city in the USA.  We have two major projects that we're sharing with the world.

First up, we're presenting Ellen McLaughlin's Helen, March 29 - April 27 at our home venue in San Francisco.  With an illustrious cast of 5 and a team of award winning designers assembled from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, all spearheaded by OSF Killian Directing Fellow Shannon R. Davis, Helen is a work of sheer beauty - pun intended.

Using the story of Helen of Troy, this production explores a range of subjects, from the clash of Euro-centric beauty standards and those of people of color, to women, gender and societal expectations,  toiconography, storytelling, abduction, war, and death.  Artist fees make up the majority of our $40,000 production budget.  Any contributions go a long way towards helping out outstanding team!

Second, Theatre of Yugen has been invited to perform Kyogen in English at the 12th annual International Festival of Theatre and Dance in Iquique, Chile!  This will be Theatre of Yugen's FIRST TIME in South America!  Nick Ishimaru, Lluis Valls, Shannon R. Davis, and Steven Flores will be presenting the traditional Master-Servant play Busu, and creating a new dance just for the festival.

The astonishing Chilean government is offering us some very profound support, but travel isn't cheap folks!  We still have a huge chunk of costs to cover, including artist fees, airfare, and the costs of bringing our sets and our pants with us, which your contributions will directly provide.

So please, contribute to Theatre of Yugen and help us maintain our globally renowned work!  Check us out at www.theatreofyugen.org
