Hi, my name is Joan Scalisi, sister to William Larson. In April of 2022, William was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Doctor's discovered a tumor, the size of a plum. It was suggested that William have the tumor removed. Surgeon's successfully removed the tumor and Doctor's stated that they got it all. Nine months later, William began to get ill and Doctor's felt that perhaps the cancer had spread to his brain. After weeks of imaging tests, it was found out that the cancer had not only spread to his brain, but to his liver and lungs as well. William began his battle with cancer, which would lead to months and years of radiation and chemotherapy. In recent weeks, the cancer continued to spread, leading to pancreatic cancer along with additional masses on his lungs and liver. Though he fought as much as he could, William's body began to shut down in different ways. Over the past month, William has been a patient at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut fighting for his life. Yesterday, it was determined there was no more that could be done for William and the very difficult decision was made to begin hospice care for my brother. Today, William has begun hospice care here in Rhode Island. William worked hard his entire life providing for his family. Unfortunately, he did not prepare for this day.
