People have been asking whether there is some cause to which they might contribute to honor Jim's memory. The children and I have decided upon WETA, Washington DC’s public broadcasting station, because of the joy it has given Jim (and our family) over the decades through its excellent and varied TV and FM programming. Some of Jim’s favorites over time: Masterpiece, NOVA, Mystery, PBS News Hour, Upstairs/Downstairs, Lord Peter Wimsey, Monty Python, the BBC’s Pride and Prejudice (the best one!), and innumerable history, art, science, music, and cooking shows (Julia!); and for our kids, the beloved Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, and Reading Rainbow. Jim has watched long enough to see the launch of Ken Burns’ Civil War series and TWO productions of All Creatures Great and Small (1978 and 2021). More recent favorites have included Astrid, Miss Scarlet, Rick Steves’ travel programs, Around the World in 80 Days, and Sherlock. If you are also a fan of WETA or of Jim (or of both!), please consider a donation.
