Hi, I’m Vanessa!

Earlier this year, my life changed in ways I never expected. I went through a serious health issue that left me in a wheelchair. Learning to adjust to this new reality while continuing to pursue my education has been a difficult and emotional journey.

I’m currently a student at the University of Texas at Dallas, about to enter into my sophomore year. While many people can lean on family in tough times, my reality is different. Through loss, distance, and other circumstances, I’m on my own. As much as I’ve tried to push forward, I have been unable to work and I need to stay in on-campus housing.

I am trying to raise $1,500 to cover my summer housing costs. I have been doing everything I can to stay independent and strong throughout all of this, but I’ve reached a point where I need to ask for help, which isn’t easy for me.
