Hello. My name is Valor, and I'm a black transfeminine non-binary woman looking to get bottom surgery on August 27th. I've been wanting this surgery since I was 5 years old, and, to be honest, the fact that it is so close now genuinely boggles my mind. I've been through a lot in my life. I grew up in a place where LGBTQIA2S+ identities were villainized and treated with ridicule. Coming to discover my trans identity in a setting like this was exhaustingly difficult, but I am more than confident in myself after all of the time I have put into learning myself, my identity, and what it means to me personally. Starting HRT was a massive deal for me, and when I first realized I was non-binary, it was never even something I intended to do. However, as I grew in my understanding of myself, things became clearer to me with regard to my own image and who I want to be. Now, I find myself having a scheduled date for a surgery I never thought I would actually able to get, and that 5-year old me dreamed of.
