Hi, my name is Valerie, and I am fighting for the chance to live a normal, healthy life.
For years, I have lived with a debilitating heart condition called a Myocardial Bridge. In simple terms, a segment of one of my main coronary arteries is "tunneled" under the heart muscle. Every time my heart beats, that muscle squeezes the artery shut, "strangling" the blood flow to my heart.
The Reality of My Daily Life What started as fatigue has grown into a constant struggle. On a daily basis, I deal with:
Severe, crushing chest pain (angina)
Frequent and scary heart arrhythmias
Shortness of breath that makes even simple tasks feel impossible
The constant fear that my heart simply won't be able to keep up as I get older.
The Solution: Surgery in Houston with Dr. Ramzy After a lifetime of searching for answers, I have finally found hope. I have been accepted for a specialized surgery called Myocardial Bridge Unroofing at the Memorial Hermann hospital. It’s one of the few places in the US where the surgeon specializes in MB unroofing surgery.
This surgery will literally "unroof" the artery from the muscle, allowing my heart to pump blood freely for the first time.
Why I Need Your Help While I finally have a path to healing, the financial hurdle is more than I can face alone. Because I have to travel from PR to Texas, the expenses are mounting quickly. Your donations will go directly toward:
Medical Expenses: Co-pays and out-of-pocket costs for a complex heart surgery (myocardial bridge unroofing procedure).
Travel & Lodging: Airfare to Texas and a place to stay near the hospital for the post-op monitoring after discharge.
Recovery Support: I will be unable to work for some time while I heal, and these funds will help cover my basic bills during that time. I am currently awaiting acceptance of disability.
My Dream for the Future I want to know what it feels like to take a deep breath without pain. I want to walk, move, and live without the constant shadow of a heart condition holding me back.
How You Can Help
Donate: No amount is too small. Even the cost of a cup of coffee brings me one step closer to getting this all set up to get the surgery.
Share: Sharing this link on Facebook, Instagram, or via text is just as powerful as a donation.
Pray/Send Positive Vibes: I am so grateful for the emotional support I've received so far.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me take this life-saving step. I will be posting regular updates on my journey and my recovery here!
With gratitude, Valerie
