My name is Colleen Ryan and this fund is for my best friend in life Moriah Nei and her son James.
On Wednesday April 2nd 2025 started off like any other morning for James. He was full of energy as always and excited for school. Moriah dropped him at school and within 2 hours received a phone call that James was complaining of a stomach ache and vomiting in the nurses office. Within 20 minutes she got to the school to pick him up and James was was unable to stand / walk and had to be carried out to the car. Thinking it was a stomach bug or flu, she brought him home gave him Tylenol and let him rest. As time passed his condition was worsening so she took him to Allina emergency room. While there he began to complain of a headache and neck pain. The ER started blood tests and panels. It was apparent that he needed to get to Children’s hospital via ambulance as soon as possible. Upon arriving at children’s hospital it was determined that James condition was life threatening and he had a brain bleed. James had a large amount of blood pooling in his brain and he needed emergency surgery to insert a drain to relieve that pressure. Thursday morning he underwent brain surgery to insert a drain. While under sedation the surgeons also performed a cerebral angiogram and MRI. James drain surgery was successful. Around 6:00pm Thursday evening he was in recovery, they were able to remove his breathing tube he was off the ventilator and breathing on his own. His cerebral angiogram MRI results however were inconclusive.
At this point the surgical team is unable to detect exactly what is causing or the exact spot the bleed is coming from. That means James will have to go through sedation and repeat the cerebral angiogram and MRI again to try to get the answers we need so he can be successfully diagnosed and treated. Until then James is resting comfortably in the pediatric ICU. He is doing well considering his condition. He is awake and staying awake for longer periods of time. The team at Children’s Hospital has been amazing and they are taking excellent care of him. His parents have been there with James every minute and are so proud of their son and his amazing strength.
At this time James may need to stay in the hospital for several weeks or longer and once home he will need constant care.
Any donations will allow his parents to continue to be by his side through his hospital stay and his unknown recovery process. Thank you for reading and sharing James story. Thank you for any support and prayers that you can offer. ❤️
