Marthabob is special to us all, and she has been a fundamental support for so many of us over the years. She just turned 66, and I have a proposal to celebrate her with a contribution toward covering expenses for corrective eye surgery she is hoping to have in the next month.
In preparing for cataract surgery, her eye surgeon made a recommendation for a procedure that would correct her congenital nystagmus (involuntary eye movement) and potentially improve her vision to the point of not needing glasses. When Martha heard her talk about this, she begin to cry; she said that it never occurred to anyone in 60 years of going to eye appointments that this could be possible for her.
And OF COURSE insurance won’t cover it. Not including the cataract surgery, she’s looking at $6000 to have this done. She is prepared to pay half, but is concerned about how to cover the other half as she is on a fixed income.
I hope we can all pool our generosity to give Martha confidence to move forward with the surgery, which needs to happen at the same time as her cataract surgery next month. We are only as accurate as our notes in talking to Martha and a few minutes of Google searches can let us be, but we do know this is a life-changing opportunity for someone who has changed so many of our lives for the better. Any amount is helpful and appreciated.
Thanks for your consideration,
Kathy and Brad
