Donate to Tracy - Scrappiest Aunt on the Planet
Donation protected
Ok, I may be biased. Maybe you have a scrappy aunt too. Perhaps you think your Aunt is the scrappiest. But you know where I'm coming from. And that's why we need you.
My name is Shannon. I am starting this fundraiser for my Aunt Tracy.
She has been diagnosed with stage 3 squamous cell lung cancer. I want money to be as little of an obstacle as possible for her as she has enough stress to take on with the treatment she is about to go through. She deserves the comfort of knowing people care about her and that she can pay her bills and have a full refrigerator while fighting this battle. I know my Aunt Tracy would never ask for anything like this from anyone. She would suffer and fight with what she has. I know that with your help, she will have the means and ability to fight and give it all she's got to kick cancer in the ass.
My Aunt Tracy has not had an easy life. She has been on her own since she was a teen. With every obstacle set in front of her, she's faced it with fierce resolve and made the best of whatever situation. She has worked most of her life at labor-intensive jobs, including pre-fabbing dry kilns, working in metal shops and warehouses, and cooking in restaurants.
Even with the hard life that she has had, she always found time to spend with her nieces and nephews. My Aunt Tracy was the kind of aunt that would climb trees with us and sing us silly songs that never made sense. She makes damn good fried green tomatoes and chicken and dumpling soup. My Aunt Tracy is one of my heros. She would take food to the homeless after work, even when she didn't have much. She has worked her fingers to the bone to support herself with every ounce of blood, sweat and tears she has in her tiny body. With that perseverance, Aunt Tracy was recently able to leave a relationship that was no longer serving her. It was hard and took her years, but she made it out and lives closer to her family in Georgia now. She found a sweet little cottage to call home and a job working back of the house at a restaurant. She was diagnosed 9 months after settling in. She started treatment yesterday and in the same day, was denied disability to help with the cost of living while she is unable to work. The denial is being appealed as we cannot see why she wouldn't be eligible, but even with disability and state-covered charity care, our Aunt will need help. Please consider giving whatever your heart tells you to give. I know that she will be so grateful for each donation and every kind word you share. Please keep Aunt Tracy in your thoughts and prayers and send your healing love and energy her way. Please share this with your social media groups to help us reach our goal.
