My husband Tony Novak was diagnosed with DLBCL lymphoma in the stomach and chest in March 2024. He went through chemotherapy and after his first treatment he was unable to return to work, the treatments made him very dizzy and tired. In June we got the good news his CT scans showed no masses and his lymphoma was responding well to the treatment.
After his 5th treatment on 6/11, I started noticing some changes in his behavior and mental status. It took 2 weeks of talking with doctors and 3 ER visits to get him admitted after a MRI showed inflammation on the brain.
Tony has been in the hospital since July 5th undergoing all kinds of tests to figure out what is causing this. I have been with him everyday. After 6 weeks into his hospitalization they did a brain biopsy and diagnosed him with Secondary CNS lymphoma. They are unsure if it was there prior to his first diagnosis or if it developed after, it also has different characteristics of the first lymphoma making it most likely a second lymphoma and not a spreading of the first. The current treatment plan is 8 doses, one every 2 weeks. We have a long road ahead of us and unfortunately do not know what the outcome will be. Currently he sleeps almost all day, and is mostly non coherent in his waking moments.
Tony is such a kind and giving man, willing to help everyone around him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or fix something for anyone. He was the main provider for our household making this a difficult situation for us. Tony and I are never ones to ask for help, and now we are in need of all the help and prayers we can get. We are so grateful for everyone that takes the time to read this, follow our journey and help us in the ways they can.
