I’ve shared very little about what’s going on with me and my health currently. I’ve seen this community do wonders for others, so I thought I’d share my story in a time of need. Three months ago, my GI issues started. It began as nausea with every meal, which lasted for about three weeks. Then that turned into GERD (intense everyday acid reflux). Symptoms included stomach pain, chest pain, rib pain, back pain, etc. I’ve had imaging done, endoscopies, lab work, etc. Everything has come back normal. Three weeks ago, I started experiencing more severe daily symptoms. These symptoms are a part of LPR, aka silent reflux. This is a type of silent reflux that affects your throat, your voice box, your airways, etc. Unfortunately, the healthcare system isn’t the most knowledgeable about this condition. They mainly put you on an acid reducer medication (which I’ve been on), and if that doesn’t work, they tell you to double your dose. I’ve tried several medications; nothing has worked for me. It’s gotten so bad I had to put in a leave at work, a leave where I don’t get paid for. I’m slowly losing my voice, and it’s painful to talk. I wake up with nightly panic attacks, not being able to breathe from this condition. These are just some of my scary symptoms. This has honestly been the most frightening and isolating thing I’ve ever experienced. Who knew “acid reflux” could be this bad. It’s so debilitating some days, but I have to keep hopeful that I will get the help I need. I am following up with more doctors in hopes that they can somehow help. But in the meantime, I’ve reached out to naturopath doctors, and it has been an extremely slow and expensive process. I never thought I’d be out of a job due to my health, but life happens when you least expect it, sometimes not in the best ways. If you can donate anything at all, I would greatly appreciate it. This is for my medical expenses to try and find the root of my cause and heal so I can go back to work. But really, any donation at all would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I’m afraid of losing my job, apartment, and not being able to afford my medical bills and get the help I need to heal.
