Cyclone Ditwah formed on 26 November 2025 off the southwest Bay of Bengal as a low-pressure system. It rapidly strengthened, becoming a deep depression the next day, and by early 28 November it had intensified further into a cyclonic storm, officially receiving the name “Ditwah.” The storm developed quickly due to favourable conditions over the Bay of Bengal, including warm ocean temperatures and low wind shear, which allowed it to intensify without disruption.

On 28 November, Ditwah crossed over Sri Lanka, bringing torrential rainfall, strong winds, and widespread flooding and landslides across many districts. After moving across the island, the system re-entered the Bay of Bengal on 29 November, where it briefly regained strength over open water. It then weakened steadily, falling back to a deep depression by 30 November and eventually dissipating into a remnant low by 2–3 December.
