Hello there! My name is Theresa, and I am a full-time nursing student on SSI. My husband is also a full-time student pursuing a career as a clinical laboratory scientist. In December 2023, I was diagnosed with stage 3 urothelial cell carcinoma of the kidney, which resulted in the removal of my left kidney. I have since undergone chemotherapy and have had several bladder tumor removals, as well as a cystoscopy. I am still undergoing immunotherapy and have another surgery to remove scar tissue and some muscle from my bladder to correctly stage the cancer. I am determined to save my bladder through BCG treatments.

Despite my determination, my husband and I are struggling to make ends meet. We are facing financial challenges due to my medical expenses, and I only receive $945 per month. Our apartment on campus is expensive, and we need help paying for food, gas to and from appointments, medical necessities, and car payments and insurance. We are not making it on our own and need your support to keep our heads above water.

As a nursing student, I am passionate about providing quality care to my patients, and I hope to use my knowledge and experience to make a positive impact in the medical field.
