Help Orange County Animal Services keep our furry friends warm this winter.
As temperatures drop, outdoor pets need shelter from the cold. We are collecting donations to purchase dog houses and straw to help keep community pets warm. Sturdy dog houses will help to protect pets from the elements, and straw bedding helps to insulate them, keeping the area warm and dry.
Why we use straw:
- Straw insulates: Straw's hollow stalks trap air, creating a warm, insulated nest.
- Resists moisture: Unlike blankets and towels, which absorb moisture and can freeze, straw repels water, staying dry and mold-free.
- Hay is not a substitute: Hay absorbs moisture and can rot, causing illness.
