This year, PS172 faces over half a million dollars in budget cuts, with the possibility of more on the way. Despite the best efforts of our amazing administration, classroom size and staff hiring have already been negatively affected. We need your help in ensuring that our students' elementary school experience stays rich and supportive.
The PS172 PTA is a group of enthusiastic, motivated caregivers, administration, teachers and staff whose primary aim is to offer time, talent and support to the ongoing education, enrichment and wellbeing of the P.S.172 community
Funds we raise help us:
- Provide a rich and varied enrichment program at affordable rates so that any student interested can pursue interests in chess, coding, engineering, sports, art, cooking and more
- Collaborate with the school equity team to bring schoolwide cultural assemblies to every grade level, allowing students to learn and experience other cultures
- Host family friendly events like The Big Clothing Swap, Hispanic Heritage Movie Night, STEM Saturday, Winter Talent Show and How Do You Celebrate Spring? We love these opportunities for our community to share and learn about our diverse backgrounds
- Support our teachers and administration with appreciation events, and provide essential materials like updated AV equipment
