A Community United: Help Us Save a Piece of History
The Orange Motel is more than just a place to stay; it's a testament to Minneola's history and a cornerstone of our family's American dream. For over 34 years, we've poured our hearts into this property, transforming a forgotten space into a welcoming home for travelers and a hub for our community. We are the only motel left and one of the only historic buildings left in the area, a fact that underscores our commitment to preserving this piece of local history. The motel even serving as the birthplace of the Caribbean American Association of Lake County (CAALC).
Recently, our commitment has been tested. We hired a roofing company to replace our roof, a crucial investment for our future. While the roof is only two years old, it has been leaking since its installation. The company's work was substandard and has left us with significant damage. Since the beginning, the company has been avoiding us and has refused to address the issues, forcing us into a costly legal battle. The flawed roof has caused water leaks, and now the newly renovated rooms, which include new insulation, need to be torn out for possible mold remediation. In an act of bad faith, the company, who we hired as a client, has also posted a series of false 1-star ratings on our Google business page, despite never being a client of ours.
The financial burden of this situation is immense and threatens our ability to continue operating. We are now faced with the urgent need to hire a reputable company to tear off the flawed roof and install a new, proper one.
This is where we need your help. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to preserving our family legacy and this important piece of local history.
