What is the Festival de Antigua California?

The second Old California Festival or Festival de Antigua California is a collective effort by community members of Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico to celebrate this wonderful place where California was born. As the first European settlement of the Californias, the first capital of all of California for nearly 80 years and the launching point for expeditions that established the Missions of Alta California (the State of California in the United States), Loreto played a critical role in the history of the New World.

This year, we are celebrating our 325th Anniversary! We are planning a Festival that contains four separate festivals over 9 days, where the people of Loreto are celebrating a Wine Festival (as the first place in California to produce wine), an Arts Festival, a Ranchero Culture Festival and a Music Festival.
