Hi there!

My name is Stephanie and I'm fundraising for Iris Yichie and her community, Moshav Mekhora. Iris is a family friend who lives in Moshav Mekhora, which is a Jewish settlement located in the West Bank of Israel. She and her community are undergoing a traumatic week with the war between Israel and Hamas.

My mom and Iris met in the 80's at Disney World while on a tour. My mom spoke only English and Spanish at the time, while Iris only spoke Hebrew. Somehow they managed to become friends while not even speaking the same language and have been friends ever since. They communicated through letters for years with my mom writing in Spanish and Iris's coworker translating them to Hebrew. They went back and forth with letters for years (pre-cellphones)! Iris always begged my mom to come visit her in Israel! In 2019, we were able to visit Israel along with a family friend for 3 weeks! Iris hosted us in her home in the West Bank and it was absolutely beautiful. The people, the scenery, and the culture were all extraordinary.

Iris has undergone unimaginable trauma in her life, but she is also the most caring individual I've ever met. She exudes God in everything she does. I've met her in person twice now and I love her as if she was my own grandmother.

My hope is that we can financially contribute to her and her community to help alleviate some financial stress as they endure these tragic times. Considering their Moshav is more remote than others, food and gas prices will go up considerably while they are at war. When I went in 2019, it was already $100 to fill up a tank so I can only imagine what it will cost now. The funds will be used for food, gas, any potential funeral costs, and any other unforeseen costs that may be coming to their community at this time.
