In honor of the recent passing of our devoted father and grandfather, Eugene H. Preston Jr., we seek to raise funds to establish the Deacon Eugene H. Preston Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award. Eugene instilled the values of education and academic success in his children, grandchildren, and community. He also mentored many individuals. This scholarship aims to continue his legacy and support future generations in their educational pursuits.

Eugene H. Preston Jr. graduated Valedictorian from Columbia Heights Elementary School in Winston Salem, North Carolina, in 1948. He graduated from Atkins High School, where he was voted “Most likely to be Mayor” of Winston Salem. Eugene enrolled at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical (NC A&T) State University and served as Senior Class President in 1957. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, graduating Magna cum Laude.

Eugene was an active member of the NC A&T State University National Alumni Association, for which he served a term as 1st Vice President and served a term as President. He was the recipient of the NC A&T State University Alumni Service Award.

Funds will provide needed support for the family of graduates who attend the People’s Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland.
