Remembering Tara – 32 Years Later
It’s hard to believe it’s been 32 years since Tara was taken from us. As time passes, I find myself thinking more and more about who she would be today, and what our relationship might have looked like.
To honor her memory, our family has worked to turn this tragedy into something meaningful. One of Tara’s greatest passions was dance, and through that love, my cousin Robin Snyder-Wiencek launched a scholarship program at her EMC Performing Arts Studio in New Freedom, PA.
For the past five years, we’ve awarded dance scholarships to young women who look to build confidence and self-esteem through dance. Applicants write essays that are reviewed by our family, and two are chosen to receive the awards.
This weekend, we’re kicking off our annual scholarship fundraiser in her name, running through August 16 (her birthday).
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has supported this cause in the past and to those who continue to help us keep her light shining.
