Help Talia’s mission to save this abused dog

My name is Talia. On Thursday, June 14th, I was driving home from work when I found this dog wandering down the road in my town. I stopped my car and went to see him and look for a tag. As soon as I looked at his face, I knew I immediately had to take him to my vet. This dog had been abandoned! His face had open wounds, was swollen and severely infected around his eyes, mouth, ears, and head, and his jaw was just hanging…his nails were inches long and he could not walk properly either.

After a long, traumatic 9-hour wait at the emergency vet, this dog was surrendered to me. The “owner”, who we eventually tracked down with the help of an amazing animal control officer and a very nice state policeman, could not care for him and was going to euthanize him just because they couldn’t afford any vet care and were not able to feed him. Without thinking twice, I promised to save him, with the help of my amazing vet and her team. I promised to treat his wounds and infections and hand feed him for the rest of his life if I had to. We were not planning on taking in a 5th dog but we also always do the right thing when it comes to animals because they are innocent beings and depend on humans.

This dog has needed thousands of dollars in medical treatment already with receipts to prove it just to get him well enough to wag his tail… He has been with us now at our home for a little over a month and has come a very long way so far and still has a long road ahead of him. We have taken him every two weeks to get his life-saving antibiotic shot and boosters since the initial shot, also he requires a shot for his skin condition every four weeks. He was riddled with ticks and fleas so was also treated for tick disease and flea prevention. All living beings deserve to be treated well.

This dog was severely neglected and abused. He is now about 70% better as seen in the cover photo and we ask anyone who wants to donate to his initial treatment that saved his life and his care moving forward to please do so and share if you can! Thank you for your consideration.
