WCLOC Theatre Company is excited to announce a 1:1 Matching Gift Challenge up to $4,000 to support the purchase of a new lighting console for our theater.
A generous anonymous donor has agreed to match dollar for dollar all donations in support of this effort through December 31.
Donors of $250-$499 will be recognized with their name on a permanent plaque proudly displayed in our lobby.
Donors of $500+ will be recognized with their name on a permanent plaque plus up to 4 tickets and an invitation to a special reception at the opening night performance where our new lighting console will be in use.
Donors at every level will be recognized on a temporary board in our lobby for this season.
Over the past few years, we have more than doubled our lighting inventory, including the purchase of a series of “intelligent” LED lighting fixtures. These fixtures are powerful and versatile, and their ability to provide color and intensity in a small space has been integral to the past season of shows.
WCLOC is in need a new lighting console not only to make the best use of our current equipment and facility, but also to allow us to invest further in modern lighting equipment and to offer a compelling design experience that attracts future volunteer lighting designers.
A modern console will provide several key benefits
- Improve our ability to control our existing lighting fixtures by providing accurate color to our LED fixtures and offering complex programming like multipart cues.
- Support continued investment in modern lighting capabilities; adding LED fixtures to our inventory offer limited benefit with the console that we currently use. This might include “cyc” lights offering a dynamic, bright colored backdrop and “moving lights,” whose versatility will maximize the use of our limited rigging space.
- Attract designers, directors and theatremakers; our current console is obsolete, and serves as an obstacle to prospective lighting designers. This is especially true for those of local schools, colleges and other training providers, who all provide training on current consoles.
