My name is Melissa Peter-Paul. I’m the first cousin of Jacob Jadis, Ambers beloved husband. Amber’s main request was to make sure her children were supported. I’ve started this gofundme to support that request.
In her own words, Amber Jadis was a mom, a wife, an engineer, and an entrepreneur who was passionate about STEAM education. She was indeed all those things. But she was also more: a fiercely loyal cheerleader and an enthusiastic champion of her community. She was a doer, a dreamer, and a lifelong student of everything. She was a caring friend, a loving auntie, and a creator of great big things.
In early 2018, Amber was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and began a course of treatment with many uncertainties and few guarantees. Despite the challenges she faced, she continued to strive, pushing to meet her goals and fulfill her dreams, even if it meant attending virtual meetings from her hospital bed from time to time. In 2022, Amber celebrated a huge win when she held the grand opening of her very own STEAM educational space, a project she’d been working on for years.
Earlier this year, Amber marveled that she’d made it to the 60-month median survival rate for her condition, something she hadn’t always been sure would happen. She celebrated her birthday, her 19th wedding anniversary with her high school sweetheart Jacob, her daughter Ellen’s grade 8 graduation, and her son Clark’s MVP award in baseball.
In May of this year, Amber lamented on Facebook that PEI was experiencing a display of aurora borealis while she was away on a business trip: she had never seen the aurora and was envious that she was missing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
On October 10, 2024, our beloved Amber’s journey with cancer ended and, in the words of a family member, she “crossed the spirit road”.
Mere hours after she died, the skies over PEI were lit by the brightest display of aurora borealis PEI has experienced in as long as anyone can remember. Amber finally got her wish.
We’ve created this fund to help support the present and future needs of Jacob, Ellen and Clark.
Wela’lin for your support.
