Dedicated husband and father of four, Dana Castle has been working within the boat building industry for more than 40 years. If you have had your fishing vessel serviced at Fred Wahl in Reedsport, Oregon or at the Port of Toledo Shipyard in Lincoln County or even in Ketchikan, Alaska there is a good chance that Dana may have painted your boat. He spoke with me today about how much he has treasured being a part of the fishing community for all these years, noting that fishermen are “the hardest working guys out there, and truly the greatest people.”

Anyone who knows Dana knows he is a talented, kind and humble soul. His wife Lisa relayed how “extremely hard” this life-changing diagnosis of Stage 4 Lymphoma has been. “We are overwhelmed trying to ensure Dana gets the treatment he needs; we have barely had time to consider how we are going to pay for all of this.” As a proud grandfather of four boys, Dana would never ask for help, yet so many fishermen are coming forward asking what they can do during this unthinkable challenge Dana and his family are facing.
