My name is Logan Franklin and I’m currently the Deputy Fire Chief of Greenville Fire Department. I’m creating this GoFundMe for one of our members, Jacob Brooks and his family.

Jacob has been a member for Greenville Fire Department for 5 years and has dedicated the majority of his time to serving his community in some fashion.

Yesterday, Jacob and his wife Calista lost their youngest son, Levi Wyatt Brooks, at just 4 months old.

Levi was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, and required an emergency surgery immediately after birth.

(Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) is a rare, severe congenital heart defect that occurs when the left side of the heart doesn't develop properly during pregnancy. This prevents the left side from pumping oxygenated blood into the aorta, which then carries blood throughout the body. HLHS is considered a critical congenital heart defect (critical CHD) and affects normal blood flow through the heart. Babies born with HLHS will need surgery shortly after birth.)

Over the last few months, Levi’s health has been a rollercoaster full of highs and lows.

Unfortunately, Levi went into sudden cardiac arrest a few days ago and was resuscitated and placed on the life support in the CICU.

After numerous CT’s it was determined that Levi’s body and brain experienced far too much trauma to recover and he passed yesterday, surrounded by love from his family.

This fundraiser was started to assist Jacob and Calista in the funeral costs, as well as any and all expenses that coincide with this tragic event.
