Chances are, if you’ve imbibed in the Black Brooklyn bar scene over the last decade, you’ve had your spirits served — and lifted — by the effervescent, drink-slinging sisters, Sheena and Shanel Odum. Today, however, you have the rare opportunity to turn the tables and help give Sheena a second shot at life.
As many of you know, Sheena’s diabetic journey has reached a critical moment. After years of managing her condition with insulin and diet, the diagnosis of End Stage Kidney Failure blindsided her. Sheena was forced to put a pause on many of the activities that had once brought so much joy to her life and now attend her four-hour dialysis sessions three times a week. Her doctors have determined she’s eligible for a kidney transplant. And her older sister is a perfect donor match.
So, as we celebrate their blessing and act of love, which brings hope and inspiration to us all, let’s not forget that it also comes with significant medical expenses that the siblings cannot bear alone. They’re launching this crowdsourcing campaign to help cover the costs associated with the transplant and the post-surgical process, and humbly ask for donations to support their journey to recovery.
