Hi, We are fundraising for our dear friend and much loved colleague Kieran Monaghan who is currently battling pancreatic cancer.

Kieran is a devoted husband to Máire and doting Dad to his beautiful children, Harry and Gabrielle.

Kieran is a big part of the West Belfast community.

Kieran has devoted all his life to helping others through his career in Social Work.

He has helped enrich the lives of children in care and is a much loved and missed member of our team.

Kieran is the quiet man, he is a calm and cool in the face of the stresses of the job. He is addicted to tea and makes us all five cups a day ( I miss this a lot!). Kieran knows most things can be sorted out over a cup of tea!

He is always full of craic and we have laughed our way through many tough times.

He has been a father figure to the young people we look after and has made many wonderful memories for them to hold on to.

When not at work Kieran is at home on Divis Mountain, an avid dog lover and breeder, taking in every waif and stray. He is a jack of all trades, there is nothing he can’t turn his hand to.

In the summer of 2022, Kieran got devastating news, a diagnosis of advanced pancreatic cancer. Kieran has been battling ever since, going through chemo and radiation therapy, all with the same brave, calm and peaceful way he approaches life.

We wanted to help the family in the tough months ahead and also raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer.

Our colleague Joice Mathew has decided to shave his head and wax his chest to raise money for Kieran and also hopefully give him a good laugh!

Joice is originally from Kerala in India, but Kieran has taken him to his heart like a brother and made him so welcome in Northern Ireland.

Together they took our young people on many adventures and made precious memories.

Joice takes great pride in his moustache, but has decided to shave moustache, head and wax his chest for this great cause!

This is happening in the Gort na Móna GAC at 5pm on the 10th December 2022 for anyone who can come down, or make a donation here.

We send all our love to Kieran, Máire, Harry and Gabrielle in the hopes we can make the times ahead a little easier for them, and give them the chance to make cherished memories in the months ahead.
