Hello Friends, Family, and Community!
This year, I am completing my Master's of Fine Arts in Dance at The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. On December 6th and 7th, I will be presenting my thesis concert in Atlanta, Georgia, entitled In Light of These Regrets. This work is the product of two years of research in movement and scholarship and is brought to life by six Atlanta-based dance artists. Please read below to learn more about the project and how you can support!
In Light of These Regrets explores ideas of power, propriety, viewership, and the female dancing body within the context of performance. Taking inspiration from historic moral policy around the moving body, this evening of work asks questions around boundaries of performance and perceiving. The work exists in three parts, working with shadow, theatricality, and illusion.
This production will take place at Decatur School of Ballet throughout the full building. Though the space has been kindly donated, costs include light rental, event fees, and most importantly, artist fees.
When you donate, you will:
- Support artist fees for six Atlanta-based dance artists
- Assist with lighting rental fees
- Support stage manager and dramaturg fees
- Allow the purchase of costuming
- Assist with the purchase of set pieces
- Supply promotional funds
We are so excited for the premiere of In Light of These Regrets and appreciate any support, no matter how small. And most importantly, we hope to see you at the show!
This work is supported in part by University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Department of Dance and the Peck School for the Arts.
