Support getting Lexi home and healed from devastating crash

Hi, my name is Destiny and I’m fundraising for my big sister, Alexis Faria (Lexi)—a devoted single mom, hardworking CNA, and the most loving, selfless woman I know. On May 20th, 2025, Lexi was in a tragic car accident that left her with life-altering injuries, and now she needs our help to heal, recover, and rebuild.

On May 20th, 2025, my big sister, Alexis Faria (Lexi), was in a horrific car accident while backroading with her fiancé and his friend. They missed a turn, overcorrected—and in a matter of seconds, Lexi and her fiancé were ejected from the vehicle. She was life-flighted to St. Mary’s Hospital, and shortly after, transferred to a trauma center in Denver. Her life changed forever that day.

Lexi suffered:
• Three brain bleeds
• A burst fracture in her cervical vertebrae (the base of her neck is shattered in every direction)
• A severe injury to her L7 vertebrae
• A shattered pelvis and spino-pelvic dissociation, where her pelvis separated from the base of her spine
• A dislocated shoulder and several superficial injuries

On May 23rd, she underwent extensive surgery. Surgeons placed hardware in her neck, lumbar spine, and pelvis. Due to how severely the base of her pelvis was damaged, they had to carefully stitch damaged pieces to surviving tissue. Unfortunately, they couldn’t assess the impact on the nerves connected to her colon and urinary system, which means the possibility of neurogenic bladder or bowel remains uncertain until she begins to heal.

Lexi will be in the hospital for at least two more weeks, followed by a long stay at an inpatient rehabilitation center to begin physical therapy, adapt to her new physical limitations, and rebuild her life.

And she’s doing this without insurance.

Lexi has been a single mom since her son was two years old—he’s now 9. She’s worked tirelessly as a CNA while attending nursing school, always putting others first. She’s been the rock for so many, including me, and now it’s our turn to show up for her.

She’s the kind of person who drops everything to help. The one who shows up when you say you’re scared or hurting. She’s fiercely loving, outdoorsy, adventurous—always out fishing, hiking, four-wheeling, or making memories with her son and fiancé. Her smile is the kind that lights up a room and sticks with you.

Currently, her fiancé—who suffered injuries of his own—is preparing to travel from Montrose, CO to Denver to be by her side. Neither of them are able to return to work, and their future is uncertain. Her son is safe, healthy, and anxiously waiting for his mama to come home.

We’re asking for help—to cover medical costs, rehabilitation, living expenses, and the countless things that will come as Lexi faces the greatest challenge of her life. Our starting goal is $10,000 though the need will likely grow as we learn more.

Whether you donate or share this fundraiser, you are helping carry Lexi forward. She may be facing unimaginable pain and change, but she isn’t doing it alone. Let’s surround her and her little family with love, support, and a safety net they desperately need.

With love and gratitude,
Destiny Gaskins
(Lexi’s little sister)
